Ranchi, April 27: Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) held a protest on Wednesday against the Jharkhand State Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2022 and have demanded that it should not be implemented.
An official from FJCCI during the protest said that the implementation of a 2% agricultural tax on daily use products is going to increase the inflation which will make it difficult for common people to buy things.
He added that it will also give less profit on the output of the farmers which will not help in increasing farmers’ earnings. Apart from this, there will be a huge reduction in the production, marketing and related processing industries and trade of agricultural products.
The business of agricultural products and industries will be diverted to the neighbouring states of Jharkhand where an agriculture fee is not applicable if an agricultural tax is implemented.
He has criticised the government’s decision by saying that it has decided over the agricultural tax because it has already been implemented in 13 other states. However, the geographical structures of those states and Jharkhand are completely different.
This bill is not in the interest of farmers, common consumers, agricultural produce based industries and businesses. The implementation of this tax will cause a sense of fear and intimidation.
