Ranchi: In a major push for digital convenience, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has launched a new WhatsApp chatbot service called ‘RMC Payment Mitra’, enabling residents to pay various municipal taxes directly through their phones. Citizens can now easily pay housing tax, water bills, trade licenses, and waste user charges using this digital platform.

How to use the service

To access the chatbot, users simply need to send a message with ‘Johar’ or ‘Hi’ to the number 8986627070 on WhatsApp. The chatbot will then automatically activate, guiding users through a quick and secure process to complete their payments using their mobile phones.

A step towards efficiency and transparency

RMC Commissioner Sandeep Singh stated that the chatbot is aimed at enhancing convenience and transparency. “People will no longer need to wait in long queues. They can pay their taxes anytime, from anywhere. The entire process can be completed in just two minutes,” he said.

The service was formally launched in the presence of Deputy Municipal Commissioner, RMC officials, and representatives from IndusInd Bank, the technical partner in the initiative.
