Despite it being a Sunday scores of spectators all across the passage watched the grand yatra. Residents watching the Yatra of the NPU while talking to lagatar24.com said that never in the history of this university they had ever had the opportunity to see the VC, pro VC and university officials walk down the street like commoners.

The VC Singh in his key note address said, “Patriotism is not to be born in one’s sleeve. Patriotism lies in heart. It is not talked of. It is shown.”

The VC further said, “Patriotism should be shown in a manner that instills fear in the hearts of the enemy.”

Mayor Shankar in her speech lauded the role of women in helping India gain freedom. She asked women to live up to the occasion. Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Yadav said he had not expected this Tiranga Yatra to be so overwhelmingly successful and thanked the participants. Deputy Mayor Singh spoke about the glory of the 75th Independence Day.

Sources said the proctor of the university Dr K C Jha and his team oversaw the whole Yatra. As a token of gratitude the VC marched in the column of the Yatra expressing his gratitude after the Yatra ended.
