Daltonganj, July 2: Activists of the NSUI today staged a dharna against the Agnipath scheme in Daltonganj.

Later, a two-page memorandum addressed to the President of India through Palamu DC Shashi Ranjan was handed over to a senior government official Shailesh Kumar.

The Congress contingent had district president Bittu Pathak, Youth Congress leader Abhishek Tiwary, NSUI district president Amarnath Tiwary and others.

According to sources, Congress is trying to keep the Agnipath scheme issue alive but youths aiming to crack even 4 years of service in the Indian Army are keeping aloof from the protest and dharna against the scheme. There is not even a whimper of protest or anger of the youths visible against the Agnipath scheme.

The state Congress leadership has completely disjointed itself with the common people except by holding press conferences in Ranchi.

“The Jharkhand Congress is back to only observance of birth and death anniversaries of its leaders or the country,” said a Congress leader asking for anonymity.

“Let our state incharge Avinash Pande start taking notes from the common people of the districts as to where the Congress in Jharkhand stands and where is the BJP and he will find the Congress is visibly invisible,” he added.
