Lucknow, Aug 15: Debashish Sen, Regional Executive Director, NTPC Northern Region Head Quarters hoisted the Tricolour on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day 2022 at NRHQ premises. All employees and families and associates gathered in large numbers to celebrate the occasion with patriotism, fervour and zeal.

In his address Sen said, “Independence day is a festival of freedom for us. This was made possible by generations of freedom fighters. Today we are breathing under the open sky because of their heroic deeds. We bow to the holy memory of those brave martyrs.”

He added that the character of our nationalist movement under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi was based on the principles of truth and non-violence. He and all other national heroes provided us with an invaluable blueprint to not only liberate the nation from colonial rule, but to rebuild it. Gandhiji’s struggle was for a return to the Indian ethos and human dignity.

“Prime Minister has appealed to the people to strengthen the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement by hoisting or displaying the National Flag in their homes between August 13-15. The government has conceived the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ exercise to commemorate the 76th anniversary of India’s independence and we are all following it with enthusiasm.”

After independence, many plans were made for the progress of education, health, science and technology in the country. In this series, the Government of India established the public sector company NTPC Limited in the year 1975 to become self-reliant in the field of power generation. NTPC Limited has touched many new heights in the field of energy since its inception, Sen added.

“And as a result, our company got the distinction of being a Maharatna company by giving it an important public sector position in 2010, today our total installed capacity is 69,433 MW and by the year 2032 to achieve total capacity of 130 GW. We are moving forward on an ambitious plan. NTPC aims to be the largest and best power company in the world.”

He congratulated the employees for their valuable contribution in continuing the energy production while being fully dedicated towards their work even during the global pandemic of Covid-19. He also expressed satisfaction that all employees, families and associates have taken Anti-Covid Booster Dose vaccination.

He also lauded the efforts of all District Nodal Officers of NTPC Norther Region in making the ‘Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavishya- Bijli Mahotsav 2022’ in 23 the districts assigned to them, successful.

The Independence Day program was marked with the presence of Karabi Sen, President, Uttara Mahila Mandal along with all Committee members.

Among the senior officials Debdulal Mandal, GM(OS), Milan Kumar, GM(HR) and HS Chauhan, GM(TS) were present.

With a view to create awareness among employees for environment, a pot with plant were distributed to all employees. The program ended with a tree plantation program.
