Daltonganj, May 22: The Palamu district president of the Chamber of commerce and industry Anand Shanker on Sunday in a press note stated that the Harishchandra ghat in Daltonganj is soon going to get a ‘face lift’.
The ghat is the oldest cremation site in Daltonganj and recently even got an RO facility which was inaugurated by mayor of Medinirai municipal corporation Aruna Shankar and deputy mayor Mangal Singh.
Normally, a cremation ghat in a city remains a picture of neglect. However, in Daltonganj there is a serious effort to give a facelift to the Harishchandra ghat.
“There is a proposal to build a shed to conduct last rites in the rainy season without any discomfort. Cremation of unclaimed bodies may not be a problem now”, said Shanker.
Their cremation will also be taken care of by a committee and the last rites will be performed in all sanctity.
