New Delhi, Dec.20: India’s Omicron tally surpassed 150 on Monday, with Karnataka confirming five further instances on December 19. According to Karnataka Health Minister Dr Sudhakar, the five patients are from Dharwad, Bhadravathi, Udupi (2), and Mangaluru.
Omicron cases have been found in Maharashtra (54), Delhi (22), Rajasthan (17), and Karnataka (19), Telangana (20), Gujarat (11), Kerala (11), Andhra Pradesh (1), Chandigarh (1), Tamil Nadu (1), and West Bengal (4), according to central and state officials.
In the meantime, India reported 6,563 new Covid-19 cases and 132 deaths in the previous 24 hours. According to the Health Ministry’s report, the active cases in the country were 82,267, with 8,077 recoveries.

The weekly positivity rate was 0.60 percent, while the daily positivity rate was 0.75 percent. Active cases, on the other hand, accounting for 0.24 percent of all infections in the country.
Earlier, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi, said on Sunday that vaccinations might be altered to defend against new SARS-CoV2 virus types.
