Gandhinagar, Dec.10: After one South African returnee tested positive for Covid with the new version on December 4, two other people in Gujarat have tested positive for the Omicron Covid variant. With this, India’s overall number of Omicron cases is now 25.

The returnee from South Africa is completely vaccinated. At least ten people have been quarantined and tested after coming into touch with him.
According to government sources, top officials from the Health Ministry notified a parliamentary panel on Thursday that there are 23 cases of the Omicron type of Covid-19, and authorities are actively watching the issue.
The health officials presented a comprehensive presentation on the Omicron variant and other COVID-19-related issues.
On the matter of ‘Challenges posed by Omicron version of Covid-19,’ the Health Secretary, ICMR Director General, and other key officials from the ministry spoke before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health, chaired by Ram Gopal Yadav.
Officials said that if a third dosage of the Covid-19 vaccination is needed, it can be given after nine months following the second dose, according to the sources.
