Ranchi, Feb 5: One more corona-infected patient admitted at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Ranchi lost his life during the treatment due to co-morbid situations.

According to the doctors, Yadunandan Kewat (67), a resident of Hazaribagh, was admitted to the NTC ward of RIMS.

Head of critical care at RIMS Dr Pradeep Bhattacharya said that the patient who died was a co-morbid and was suffering from a pre-existing cardiac disorder. The death that happened was due to cardiac arrest due to failure of the heart to pump blood effectively resulting in a sudden loss of blood flow throughout the body.

“There are very few cases of Covid deaths during the third wave of the infection and mainly the deaths are happening due to comorbidity,” he said.

At present, 30 Covid infected patients are being treated in RIMS. Out of these, 10 patients are admitted to the NTC ward while 9 are in the Dengue ward. 7 patients are in Medicine D-II ward, 2 in Surgery D-II ward and 1 each in Pediatric-II ward and Pedia Surgery ward.
