One dies, four injured as car crashes with standing bus in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Feb 7: One died while four ex-students of Bhaga Mining College Dhanbad were seriously injured when their car crashed with a standing bus on the road near Chasnala petrol pump, under Patherdih police station of the district. The incident occurred around 12.30 a.m. on Monday.

The ex-students were going to Sindri from the Fusbangla based house of Kaushal Kumar when their car hit the roadside standing bus.

“One Kaushal Kumar died on the spot while four others Saurabh Gupta, Mahesh Rajak, Pankaj Kumar Chouhan, and Srikant Singh got critically injured in the incident,” said Abhay Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Patherdih police station.

After first aid in Chasnala community health centre (CHC), the injured were admitted to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital. Later, Pankaj and Mahesh were referred to Ranchi’s hospital.

All four injured ex-students Bhaga Mining College, working in Phusro Dhori colliery of Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) as junior overman, had come to Dhanbad to celebrate Saraswati Puja in their old institution. Kaushal Kumar is said to be a student of mining diploma.

Police officials said that Srikant, who was sitting in the front seat, and Pankaj Kumar Chouhan, who was driving the car, got stuck in the car. After a one-and-half hour rescue operation they were brought out.
