Ranchi, Feb 6: Matriculation and Inter examinations in Jharkhand may start after Holi in March. The examination will be held as per the guidelines issued in September last year. There will be no change in the format of the exam. The examination of both terms will be taken according to the format announced earlier by the Education Department.
On Friday, Education Secretary Rajesh Kumar Sharma held a meeting with the officials of the department regarding the format of the examination. It was decided that the dates will be announced before February 10. The examination is expected to start in the last week of March or the first week of April.
JAC Secretary Maheep Singh had given instructions to take stock of the examination centres by holding a virtual meeting with the officials of the department on Friday. At the same time, the JAC Chairman sent a letter to the Education Secretary urging him to declare the date of matriculation and inter examination in the state.
Till now, the Education Department was complaining about not having a Chairman and Vice-Chairman appointed to the Jharkhand Academic Council. After the appointment of office bearers on both the posts in the month of January, no actions have been taken by the department regarding the examination. Due to this, the future of about seven and a half lakh students of Jharkhand hangs in the balance.
After the virtual meeting held on Friday, it is also being speculated that the date of both the examinations may be announced soon. JAC Secretary Singh instructed officials to present the report after holding a virtual meeting with the officials of the Education Department after checking the present status of the examination centres. He said that if the Education Department instructs to conduct the examination at the home centre itself, then some homework should be done in advance.
Sources said that there is consideration of conducting the Matriculation-Inter examinations at home centres. So far, about 700 centres have been set up in the state for matriculation-inter examination, while the number of centres will increase to 3400 if examinations are held at home centres. A report is being prepared about the difficulties that may be faced in taking the examination at the home centre. This information will be given to the department by JAC, after which the final decision on centre fixation will be taken by the department.
