Ranchi, July 27: Under the ‘One Station One Product Scheme’ announced in the Union Budget, many temporary stalls have been started at Ranchi Railway station and many other stations in Ranchi district such as Hatia and Muri.
A stall of handicrafts, hand-woven bags, gamchha, towels, bamboo products and woven artefacts was set up by the Oraon Mahila Vikas Samiti of Morabadi Hatma last week. A temporary stall will be set up here for 15 days.
The Hatia DCM said that stalls are selected via the lottery system and it is set up for a period of a maximum of 15 days. He added that currently, the 7th phase is going on.
“Not everyone can sell their products under the ‘One product, one station’ initiative. Certain guidelines have been set up and those who fall under them can set up a stall. Similarly, NGOs can also participate,” he said.
Stalls are being set up at railway stations across the country in a phased manner for the sale of area-specific products. With this, passengers will be able to get information about the special products there and buy them easily during the commute to the railway station. As a result, both the promotion and employment of the product will increase.
The main motive behind ‘one station one product’ is to promote indigenous crafts and local artisans.
