Ranchi, Aug 3: A total of five railway stations under the Ranchi Rail Division will set up permanent stalls for the ‘one station one product’ initiative. The decision has been taken as Ranchi station sold the maximum number of regional products during the trial run in the entire country.
The five railway stations to get permanent stalls are Hatia, Ranchi, Silli, Muri and Jhalda. There were rumours that in October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate five stalls of Ranchi Rail Division but the senior DCM Ranchi Nishant Kumar said that there has been no official announcement regarding it.
The National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad has been given the responsibility to design the stalls across the five stations. Ranchi Rail Division will provide the stalls to the local product-making agencies for a period of one to two months.
The Ranchi DCM said that currently, stalls are selected via the lottery system and it is set up for a period of a maximum of 15 days. He added that the 7th phase is going on at present.
“Not everyone can sell their products under the ‘One product, one station’ initiative. Certain guidelines have been set up and those who fall under them can set up a stall. Similarly, NGOs can also participate,” he said.
