Dhanbad June 5: The Political Science post-graduate department of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad held a seminar today to mark World Environment Day and expressed concern over the onslaught on nature in the name of development.
PG political science HoD Dr Pravin Singh while presiding over the function said that the environment is being spoiled by felling trees and the construction of concrete buildings and infrastructure.
“It is high time for us as well as the world to pay proper attention to proper disposal of trash which generates radiation and poses danger to the environment. So we could check it by planting at least one tree in our house”, said Dr Singh.
Dr Jitendra Aryan, on the occasion, said that it is a matter of concern that in the name of development, an indirect war is being launched against nature which has posed a major danger to the existence of the earth.
“ The theme of 2023 World Environment Day is ‘ Beat plastic Pollution’. So we should launch a massive awareness campaign among people against plastic to achieve the mission of the theme,” he said.
Dr Amulya Syman Beck while addressing the seminar expressed concern over the accumulation of silt in rivers, tanks and other water bodies. He said once upon a time rivers and ponds of villages were free from silt but now they have been polluted there too which hits the environment.
Besides lecturers and professors, research scholars of the university Baldeo Mahto, Anil Mahto, Adhikarn Mahto, Simran Chhawra, Krishnanand Mishra, Talat Parveen, Madhu Kumari, Khushboo Kumari, Suraj Puria also addressed the seminar.
