Ranchi: Leader of Opposition and BJP state president Babulal Marandi launched a scathing attack on Jharkhand minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu over his controversial comments amid national mourning following the Pahalgam terror attack.

In a post shared on social media platform X, Marandi wrote, “The sarcasm displayed by Minister Sudivya is a reflection of the deep-rooted arrogance and madness that seems to have overtaken him.” He further condemned the minister’s remarks as shameful and disgraceful, especially at a time when not just the nation, but the entire world is mourning the tragedy in Kashmir.

Minister’s Behaviour ‘Deeply Embarrassing’: Marandi

“I used to consider him a relatively serious person, but his conduct has embarrassed every citizen of Jharkhand,” Marandi added, expressing dismay at what he termed “childish and vulgar behaviour” by the minister during a national tragedy.

No Direct Connection Claimed in Follow-Up Post

In a follow-up post, Babulal Marandi made a more philosophical observation: “A person’s true character is revealed when they are under the influence – be it of wealth, power, beauty, or alcohol.” He clarified, however, that this post was not directly related to Sudivya Kumar’s controversial statement, though the timing and context appeared suggestive.

The remarks from Minister Sudivya – which have not been detailed publicly but have sparked political outrage – are being criticised across party lines, especially in the backdrop of the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
