Oscars 2022: Tamil movie Koozhangal makes way as India’s official entry

Chennai, Oct 23: The film Koozhangal (Pebbles) by debutant director PS Vinothraj is India’s official entry for the Oscars in 2022. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s Rowdy Pictures company produced and distributed the film. Vignesh Shivan, the producer, resorted to social media to spread the good news. This year, Koozhangal received the prestigious Tiger Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Koozhangal was exhibited at the 50th International Film Festival of Rotterdam in the Netherlands in February 2021. At the film festival, the picture received the prestigious Tiger Award. Chellapandi and Karuththadaiyaan play the key parts in this realistic drama.

Vignesh Shivan took to Twitter to share the poster of Koozhangal and announced the news. He wrote, “There’s a chance to hear this! “And the Oscars goes to“ Two steps away from a dream come true moment in our lives. #Pebbles #Nayanthara @PsVinothraj @thisisysr @AmudhavanKar @Rowdy_Pictures Can’t be prouder, happier & content (sic).”

The film Koozhangal examines the connection between a drunken father and his son. Because of her abusive spouse, his wife returns to her parents’ home. The rest of the story is about how the father-son pair regains the woman’s trust.

This Tamil film is the first to win the Tiger competition prize. The film is anticipated to be released in theatres soon.
