SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, April 9: Former chief minister and BJP legislative party leader Babulal Marandi today said that outsider TMC candidate Shatrughan Sinha will bite the dust in the Asansol Lok Sabha by-election and local candidate of BJP Agnimitra Paul will win.

Marandi, who was talking with media persons at Dhanbad circuit house on Saturday afternoon after making a hectic two days campaign in Asansol for the party candidate, said that people of Asansol know Agnimitra Paul is local and Shatrughan Sinha is of Mumbai and he would return there after the election.

The Asansol Lok Sabha by-election will be held on April 12.

BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul is well set to win the election. People’s sentiment is against TMC. “That is why Babul Supriyo could not muster the courage to fight the election again from Asansol and TMC had to bring an outsider candidate from Mumbai,” Babulal Marandi said.

Babul Supriyo won from Asansol in 2019 on a BJP ticket and later resigned from the seat to join TMC.

Former Jharkhand chief minister said that Shatrughan Sinha will not do any miracle in this election as people of Asansol know that he was in BJP and later joined Congress and now has come in TMC.

Babulal Marandi said that the fate of the Hemant Soren government is hanging in the balance as both major constituents JMM and Congress are facing an internal crisis within the organization.  Congress MLAs have opened a front against their own minister while in JMM MLAs have raised the banner of revolt.

Babulal Marandi alleged that the Hemant Soren government was misleading the people of the state in the name of domicile policy. “Just after separation from Bihar, I held all parties’ meetings over domicile police and it was unanimously decided to make the 1982 cut off mark. Later Raghubar Das’s government brought policy on that basis. But for political gain Hemant Soren’s government rejected it.”
