New Delhi, Dec 26: As the monster storm grabbed the majority of the country with snow, ice, and howling winds, Reuters reported that at least 34 people had died in weather-related incidents across the United States.

The storm, sometimes known as a bomb cyclone, is predicted to cause more fatalities because it has left thousands of homes and businesses without power and trapped some individuals inside their homes with towering snowdrifts.

According to sources, more than a lakh people are currently facing blackouts and power outages. According to Reuters, 16% of Buffalo residents were without electricity on Christmas.

At least 1,40,000 utility customers in Canada lost access to electricity, largely in the hard-hit provinces of Ontario and Quebec from the same weather system that dumped snow on western New York.

The storm is referred to as the worst in decades. Millions of Americans have had their travel plans ruined, forcing them to deal with cancellations and delays during one of the busiest times of the year.

According to airline tracking website FlightAware, only two days before Christmas, roughly 2,700 flights were cancelled on Thursday, leading to an estimated 6,000 cancellations overall.
