Overdose of anaesthesia claims life of Madrasa student

Ranchi, July 24: Overdose of anaesthesia claimed the life of 14-year-old boy, Ali Khan after he was referred to a private hospital from Sadar Hospital in the Jharkhand capital for better treatment.

A person close to the boy informed this saying that the boy was taken to Sadar Hospital first after his leg bone got broken while playing on July 21. Sadar Hospital’s orthopaedic Dr S Ali advised the parents to admit the boy to a private hospital, Vinayaka Hospital, for better treatment.

The parents admitted the boy to the said hospital. At Vinayaka Hospital, the person said, the boy did not regain sense after getting anaesthesia on July 22. For further treatment, he was referred to RIMS, where he died during treatment during the intervening nights of July 23 and 24.

He said that the family members are preparing for the registration of an FIR in this connection.

Civil Surgeon Dr Dinesh Kumar expressed his ignorance about the incident. “Officially I do not have any information regarding the incident. I will be able to comment on this matter only when I get it properly probed.”

Asked about the boy’s school, the person said he was a student of Madrasa in Chanho.
