New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has lodged a formal complaint against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over a controversial video in which Sarma is seen symbolically firing a gun, allegedly targeting Muslims. The video, shared earlier by the Assam BJP on social media, has since been removed but sparked outrage.

Owaisi Alleges Hate Speech and Symbolic Violence

In his complaint, Owaisi stated that the video shows Sarma firing at individuals resembling Muslims, one wearing a cap and the other with a beard. He claimed the clip promotes genocidal hate and demanded criminal action. Owaisi also shared the complaint on social media platform X, expressing concern over how such hate-filled messages are becoming normalized.

Himanta Responds: ‘No Issue, Arrest Me’

Reacting to the complaint, Sarma told media in Dibrugarh that he has no objection to the case and is ready to go to jail. He asserted that he was unaware of the video in question and stood by his stance against Bangladeshi infiltrators. “Arrest me, I’m not afraid,” Sarma said, adding that his views will not change.

Owaisi’s Broader Attack on RSS and BJP

Owaisi further attacked the RSS, criticizing their push for a Bharat Ratna for Savarkar. He accused Savarkar of writing six mercy petitions to the British and warned that a time may come when the BJP demands the same honor for Nathuram Godse. This comment follows RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent statement suggesting that awarding the Bharat Ratna to Savarkar would enhance the award’s value.
