New Delhi, Jan 13: The Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) is making headlines as residents are furious over the discriminative policies of the Pakistan government that has exploited the region for several decades. The residents of Gilgit-Baltistan are demanding a reunion with India and are protesting against the Pakistan government in (PoK).

Several videos on the internet show the extent of the discontent among residents.

The Kargil road’s reopening and reunification with fellow Baltis in the Kargil district of the union territory of Ladakh in India were among the demands made at a sizable rally in Gilgit-Baltistan.  For the past 12 days, there have been protests throughout the area.

Long-standing land disputes have continued, but since 2015, residents have asserted that Gilgit-citizens Baltitstan’s are entitled to the land because it is located within Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Due to reductions in wheat subsidies to the area as a result of the serious crisis in wheat imports from Ukraine, problems for the locals grew in November of last year.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, which is in charge of this region, is accused by critics of purposefully underfunding necessities.
