Kargil: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to the Kargil War Memorial, emphasized that Pakistan has not learned from its past defeats and continues to support terrorism. This statement was made as he paid homage to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.

“Pakistan faced defeat whenever it has carried out any misadventure. It has not learned any lessons from history,” PM Modi declared at the memorial.

The Prime Minister honored the memory of the Indian soldiers, stating that their sacrifice is immortal and will always be commemorated through Kargil Vijay Diwas. On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army declared the successful conclusion of ‘Operation Vijay,’ securing victory after nearly three months of intense combat in the icy heights of Kargil in Ladakh. This day is annually observed as Kargil Vijay Diwas to celebrate India’s triumph over Pakistan in the conflict.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi remotely initiated the “first blast” for the construction of the Shinkun La Tunnel, aiming to provide all-weather connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Prime Minister marked the beginning of the tunnel’s construction from Drass in Ladakh.
