Islamabad, Aug 30: Imran Khan’s judicial remand in a case involving the suspected disclosure of state secrets was prolonged by a special court on Wednesday until September 13; this dashed hopes for the former Pakistan Prime Minister’s prompt release from custody.
The ruling was made in the matter of the missing cipher, a secret government document that Khan waved during a political rally before his impeachment last year. Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain came to Attock jail in the Punjab region to conduct the hearing.
Following the Law Ministry’s consent and the Interior Ministry’s expressed security concerns, the case’s hearing was held at the Attock District Jail.
