Daltonganj, Jan 17: India celebrated the 1st anniversary of the nationwide Covid vaccination drive. On January 16, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the nationwide vaccination programme to provide Covid vaccination to the public to save them from the wrath of deadly Covid-19 virus.

Palamu district also celebrated the first anniversary of the vaccination.

Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said that the district received 18,76,690 doses from January 16, 2021 to January 16, 2022.

“We have right now 65,000 doses of the vaccine with us which will be utilised for 15+, 18 + and HCW, FLW and 60+ plus for precaution doses. By this account, it means we could have vaccinated 18,11,690 eligibles only with 65,000 doses of the vaccine on hand and intact,” Dr. Anil said.

“It gives us pleasure to announce that we have in fact vaccinated 18,48,191 eligibles making every single drop of vaccine utilised skilfully and professionally thus sealing any chance of the wastage of the vaccine in Palamu,” he added.

“Our vaccine wastage here in Palamu is a big zero,” asserted the civil surgeon who was all praise for his ANMs, verifiers and all those associated with the covid vaccination.

District epidemiologist Dr Anup Kumar Singh explained it further saying, “Our CS was too concerned about the utilisation of every drop of the vaccine and our teams of vaccination just didn’t let us down.”

“A 10-dose vial of the vaccine in fact has a vaccine for 11 eligibles and here our team used it to the maximum,” said the epidemiologist.

There was no serious or complicated case of any adverse effects from immunisation (AEFI) reported in Palamu.

“We also treated our ANMs, other health workers etc like our family members. We have felicitated them and they were given blankets too,” said the CS.

He remembered the 118 people who died during the covid pandemic.

“The first anniversary of the vaccination can be again put to better use if we all begin to wear face masks,” wished Dr Anil.
