Daltonganj, October 30: The devotees visiting home in Palamu district for Chhath, have urged the local railway authorities to increase number of ticket counters at the Daltonganj railway station for easy purchase of tickets for their return journeys.
Ravinder Bhuiyan of Chainpur block said, “I have come home for Chhath from Gujarat. I will be going back soon. I travel first to Dehri via a passenger train from Daltonganj. I couldn’t purchase a ticket due to the rush at the ticket counter last year. As a result, I was fined Rs 300, which had upset my entire travel budget. It would have been easier if there were more counters to purchase the ticket from.”
Officials have said that just one ticket counter functions in the morning at the Daltonganj railway station which later on doubles but keeping in view of the rush, the number of the ticket counters is meagre.
Besides this, the one booking counter on the side of the railway platform number 6 in Daltonganj railway station has been closed for years causing inconvenience to the bonafide passengers who fail to buy journey ticket in case of rush at the booking counter and board the train without ticket.
Daltonganj railway station is a model railway station coming under the east central railway of the Dhanbad railway division where passengers’ amenities need urgent upgrading.
