Daltonganj, Nov. 27: State chief electoral officer, K Ravi Kumar, today reached Daltonganj and reviewed the progress of the ongoing special summary revision of the electoral roll which commenced on November 1 and will last till December 15.

K Ravi Kumar on being contacted on phone said that the overall performance of the special summary revision of the electoral roll in the 5 assembly constituency Palamu is ‘not satisfactory’.

He said the booth level officers are not mobilising people to avail this special summary revision. The performance of the booth level officers down to the higher-ups needs to be improved.

When asked if there is any shortage of various forms that are used in the special summary revision, the state chief electoral officer said: “Not at all. There is no issue of the forms etc. It is available in plenty. One booth level officer has around 400 to 500 forms with him.”

He gave ample impression that sincerity and dedication to this special summary revision is grossly wanting from top to bottom here in Palamu.

“I am hopeful that things will improve in Palamu in the coming weeks,” he added.

He further said that this exercise is very important as its utility and usefulness can be well tapped in the ensuing panchayat election.

Sources said that the state chief electoral officer had a slew of functions. One such was his interaction with the girl students of the YSN Mahila College in Daltonganj.

“He asked the students to enroll themselves as voters if not done yet in this ongoing special summary revision of the electoral roll,” said the professor in charge of the YSN Mahila College, Dr Mohini Gupta.

A senior officer in the Palamu collectorate, Shailesh Kumar, who had accompanied K Ravi Kumar in the Mahila college voters’ awareness programme, said that the electoral officer reminded the students that anyone who attains 18 years of age on January 1, 2022 can easily enroll themselves as a voter as it is now a very easy process.

Professor in-charge of the YSN Mahila College also said that the state chief electoral officer was also concerned about females not showing more keenness towards the enrolment for becoming voters.

There are two Apps called ‘Voters’ Help Line’ and ‘GARUDA’ launched by the Election Commission of India, which can be used by the students.

In case a student does not have a smartphone, he/she can visit the booth and the booth level officer will make things easier for the enrolment with his own App.
