Daltonganj, Mar 21: Palamu made a comeback today on the second day after Holi when by 3 p.m. it had finished 1,333 vaccinations of the eligible kids of the age group 12-14.
Confirming this, Palamu civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said, “As this figure is of 3 p.m., we expect some more vaccinations to be added to it.”
He said his early morning visit to the community health centre at Hariharganj and sub-divisional hospital Chhatarpur has yielded results.
Hariharganj did 241 vaccinations while Chhatarpur did 138 vaccinations of eligible teens till the same time of day today.
“Our community health centre at Lesliganj did a wonderful 264 vaccination of the kids. However, Paton community health centre fared poorly today with just 40,” Dr. Anil said.
Meanwhile, the adjoining district Garhwa appeared to be struggling even today despite its civil surgeon prodding his teams to do better.
Garhwa Civil surgeon Dr Kamlesh Kumar said, “Till 3 p.m., we have reports of only 260 vaccinations done of the eligible kids,” he said expressing hope of getting more vaccinations in the remaining hour.
However, in sharp contrast to these two districts, Latehar continues to maintain its high yield of the kids’ vaccinations even today.
Latehar Civil surgeon Dr Haren Chandra Mahto said, “Till 3.30 p.m., today we had done 2,200 vaccinations of the eligible kids.”
Latehar had done 2,500 plus vaccinations of the kids on the first day after Holi (Sunday). Although on the second day today, it is slightly short of its own Sunday record, Latehar is maintaining a stable performance of the kids’ vaccinations.
Dr Mahto is sanguine this figure of 2200 may further rise by the end of the vaccination service today.
Sources said Palamu and Garhwa districts need to learn the mechanism of high performance of the kids’ vaccination from Latehar.
Latehar CS said, “Our education department officials and our teams are doing coordinated efforts towards the vaccination of the kids.”
