Daltonganj, Jan 6: After the debacle of vaccination of 15+ teens for two consecutive days beginning January 3, Palamu made a sluggish recovery on the third day (January 5) by finishing 3,367 vaccinations.
The projected population of 15 to 18 age teens is over 1,41,000 in Palamu.
There was no case of ‘zero vaccination’ at any of the 10 community health centres and at other health hubs which comes as a refreshing sign of more recoveries to come in the coming days.
On the day of the launching of teens’ vaccination drive, there were seven vaccination sites including one community health centre where no vaccination was recorded.
The vaccination sites which had zero vaccination on the day of the launching of drive in Palamu were Pandu, Untari Road, Nawa Bazar, Ramgarh, Harihurganj (a community health centre), Pipra and Naudiha Bazar.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Arun Kumar Singh had also taken cognizance of it on January 5 asking DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan to act.
Sources said all these seven vaccination sites have sprung up for vaccination following a drubbing by the DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan who has directed the officials to perform by all means.
Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said a total of 149 covid vaccination sites did 3,367 vaccination of teens along with vaccination of other age groups taking the total number of all categories of vaccination like 18+, 45+ and 60+ now merged and called as 18+, to 10, 384.
The civil surgeon further said as this new age group vaccination is all talked about, our second dose vaccination gets no proper mention. 7 sites reported zero vaccination of eligible teens on January 3 but we had done 4,518 vaccinations of the second dose on the same day.
Dr Anil Kumar said the four Tika express cars here in Palamu have been asked to gear up. On January 5, the four Tika express cars did a total of only 227 vaccinations which is a matter of deep concern.
