Daltonganj, Jan 6: Latehar has achieved 38% vaccination of its 52,846 projected population of eligible teens in three days of the drive which began on January 3.
Latehar DC Abu Imran informed that more than 20,000 eligible 15+ stand vaccinated in the district in three days.
Latehar too had staggered on the day of the launching of vaccination of eligible teens in 15+ category. It had done 4,798 vaccinations only on the day of its launching.
However, on the second day it doubled the number, achieving more than 10,000 vaccinations. The next day (January 5) it was a little over 5,000 vaccinations.
Latehar Civil surgeon Dr Haren Chandra Mahto said that the pace of vaccination is directly related to the attendance of the 15+ on their school campus.
A poor attendance of 15+ will mean a slide in the vaccination number. Dr Mahto has appealed to the school management to encourage 15+ students to come to the campus where they will be given their jab easily.
In-charge head master of government upgraded high school Metlong under Manika block in Latehar district Sanjay Kumar Yadav said only three dozen 15+ students of his school remain unvaccinated. Out of 370 enrolled 15+ students, 35 or 36 students have not taken the jab.
Yadav said he would ensure that these left-outs get vaccinated as soon as possible for which a knock at their door of the houses has been planned to be started soon.
A health official of Latehar Ved Prakash said that under the direction of DC Abu Imran and civil surgeon Dr Haren Chandra Mahto, a micro plan was drawn to catch and vaccinate the eligible teens wherever they are met with or found.
He said we have 101 high schools here and our team was out there.
“Our Balumath block was languishing in vaccination. So, we parked four vaccination vehicles here on one single day and it did a good job. 15+ boys and girls are equally enthusiastic about the jab,” said the civil surgeon.
Sources said that the DC had set a target to vaccinate 52,846 teens in only 3 days. As a result, the one-day target got fixed at more than 17,000 teens a day.
One civil official requesting anonymity said that this target was big considering its time of achieving in only 3 days. But if days are expanded then this target is not difficult to achieve.
Latehar has a fleet of 14, 324 health care workers and front-line workers who too will be lining up for precautionary doses on and from January 10.
