Daltonganj, Jan 24: Pipra Tarn police have arrested two thieves who used to steal batteries from the tractors.

Officer in charge of the Pipra Tarn police station Rahul Gupta said the two are identified as Ribodh Kumar Singh (25) and Navinder Singh (28). Both hail from village Sarja Matu under the Pipra Tarn police station.

Incidentally, the two were suspects whom the local police zeroed in and busted the crime of theft. There were no names of accused of theft in the FIR lodged over the theft of the batteries.

The FIR was lodged jointly by a couple of tractor owners, Lakhan Singh, Ravi Singh,  Amin Ansari. Mahavir Bhuiyan etc., from whose tractors’ batteries were removed and stolen.

“We nabbed them and they not only confessed to have committed the theft of the batteries of the tractor but we also recovered three stolen batteries of the tractor as well,” officer Gupta said.

The two were remanded in judicial custody today under section 379 of the IPC which deals with theft of property. Section 379 is a non bailable section and comes under cognisable offense under the law of the land.

The stolen tractor batteries were sold to mobile junk dealers, the police officer said.

Police officer Gupta added that the two are not part of any gang but were in the crime individually.
