Daltonganj, March 6: The five Dalits accused of murder case of grocer Nakul Singh of Vinayka village under the Tarhassi police station on February 28 were found innocent and police had arrested three accused on Sunday.

Notably, a grocer Nakul Singh of the village Vinayka was shot dead in his shop on February 27.

Naurang Singh, the father of the deceased named 5 dalits namely Santu Mochi,  Antu Mochi, Sunil Mochi, Ramesh Mochi and Harthu Bhuiyan of the murder of his son.

However a neutral investigation by the police found these people not connected with the murder case in any way.

“Police have so far no material and circumstantial evidence against any of the 5,” SP said.

SP Palamu Chandan kr Sinha said the 5 were named accused but they had no role in the murder rather on the other hand we have arrested 3 others whose names do not figure in the FIR but these three are head long plunged into the murder of Nakul.

The three nabbed are Vikas, Sandeep and Nityam who were remanded in judicial custody today.

SP Palamu said the murder took place over the tiff in regard to the cost of wine consumed by the three. The 3 had consumed wine worth 340 rupees but Nakul was given 240 which he refused to accept. A scuffle broke out resulting in the murder of Nakul on the spot in his shop on February 27.

SP Palamu said the version of the first sight made them believe that Nakul was killed as then he would have harmed all the three since Nakul had in his hand a sharp knife.

SP said the version at first sight looks believable but police did not find any such sharp knife in the shop of Nakul.

One of the three had phoned Nakul on February 27 inquiring about his being in the shop and when Nakul said he was right there in his shop the three went there, pulled wine and then a murder all in a few hours.

SP Palamu Chandan kr Sinha said this makes police doubt about the intent of the three as to why after all they wanted to be ensured about the presence of Nakul in his shop.

“Our investigation is on,”  he added.
