Daltonganj, July 23: A swift and prompt cracking of a case of abduction for ransom in Palamu saved the police here from many of the communal hiccups.
Palamu SP Chandan Kumar Sinha revealed this at a press briefing on Saturday.
The SP said the two who were kidnapped were Hindus and their kidnappers were Muslims. The episode is on July 21 under Chhaterpur police station.
He went on to say he began to get calls from various people asking questions about this kidnapping for ransom on the communal lines.
“A pure crime was given a tinge of communalism,” reiterated the SP adding that there was an attempt to stir the communal cauldron said.
“Our 9 teams worked too hard. The case was cracked within 7 hours of the commission of the crime. The two Muslim kidnappers were caught and were remanded in judicial custody today.”
The kidnapped victims Kundan and Akshay were found by police safe as due to the mounting pressure of the police their kidnappers had released them, in fact for their own safety. Kundan and Akshay are back home at Chhaterpur who still wear a look of extreme fear on their faces.
Lagatar24.com correspondent wrote this piece as SP did not use any euphemism to describe who the two kidnapped were and who the two kidnappers were there.
The SP made a loud reference to the kidnapped as Hindus and the kidnappers as Muslims which is a fact of the episode just to drive a point home as to how a crime is seen as that of the Hindus and the Muslims.
The SP even went on to say “I was handling two diametrically opposite things on the night of July 21. The first was to rescue the two kidnapped. The second was to defuse any communal build-up.”
The SP said there were many who were hell-bent to flare up this crime on the line of communalism. “Politicians were making calls to me asking me to see how this could be tolerated,” he said.
SP Sinha added “We had a contingency plan ready by then to maintain law and order. It was because the kidnappers had threatened to kill Kundan and we were cross-fingered if the kidnappers would do this.”
A new horrible script would have surfaced had the police not caught the two kidnappers Aenul Haq and Tahir Hussain who have confessed to their crime.
Kundan, a jeweller was pressing Aenul to give him his Rs 33,000 which was long-standing unpaid money in respect of jewellery that Kundan had sold to him and Aenul did this kidnapping for ransom just to offbeat that demand. There is another mastermind of this kidnapping for ransom identified as Shamim Pawarya who is absconding.
