Jamshedpur, July 23: The sensational triple murder, including a lady constable at Golmuri Police Line on Thursday night, is an outcome of a triangular love affair.
The district police unravelled the mystery behind the ghastly murders of the lady cop Sabita Hembrom and her two kins by arresting a police driver today.
The police driver, Ramchandra Singh Jamuda was arrested from his house at Sonari where he was residing with his family.
Revealing the breakthrough, senior SP Prabhat Kumar said that Jamuda (43) had developed a relationship with Sabita Hembrom after she had joined the police department in the year 2016 on the compensatory ground following the death of her husband Kailash Hembrom.
“Jamuda who is already married used to visit Sabita’s residence at the Golmuri Police Line regularly. But in course of time, he could know that the lady constable had developed a relationship with someone else also. Having come to know the clandestine affair of her paramour, he decided to eliminate Sabita’s significant other,” said Kumar while addressing a press conference today.
The senior SP said having resolved to kill his rival, Jamuda had gone to Sabita’s residence on July 19 night and stayed there.
“During the stay, Jamuda had an altercation with Sabita over the love triangle issue. As the situation worsened, Jamuda got ferocious and started hitting Sabita with a gear-lever made of iron. On seeing her mother being assaulted, the lady cop’s 13-year-old daughter tried to save her. Sabita’s elderly mother also came to her rescue, but the agitated Jamuda killed all the three one after another and fled the scene after locking the door of the residence,” narrated the senior SP.
The senior police officer said that having killed the three Jamuda had returned to his Sonari house and even attended his driving duty on Friday.
Kumar said it was a blind case but a team of efficient police officials detected the killer by taking the statement of the neighbours and also taking technical support from the SSP office.
Police have seized the gear-lever used in committing the murders and also two cellphones before sending the arrested police driver to Ghaghidih Central Jail this evening.
