Daltonganj, Aug 11: The Bishrampur police in Palamu are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man identified as Khadim Rasul by firearms injury sustained on the evening of Wednesday, August 10.
“Khadim had a firearms injury in his head that proved fatal. He was rushed to the Medinirai Memorial College Hospital (MMCH) Daltonganj but he collapsed before any medical assistance could reach him even in the shortest of time,” said the medical superintendent of MMCH Dr Dilip Kumar Singh. He asserted the man was almost dead when brought to the MMCH Daltonganj.
SDPO Surjit Kumar said the deceased’s wife Akbari Khatoon has lodged an FIR on Thursday with the Bishrampur police station which has been registered under section 304 of the IPC. One sub-inspector of police Vijay Kujur has been made its investigating officer.
About the episode, Surjit Kumar said, referring to the content of the FIR that, one Idris Hawari took along with him Khadim Rasul in his Bolero around 2 pm on Wednesday and the same evening around 7 pm, Khadim had firearms injury which finally took his toll.
Idris Hawari is said to be the closest aide of the sitting BJP MLA (Bishrampur) Ramchandra Chandravanshi. The deceased Khadim was Idris’ right-hand man too.
Sources said there is no room for foul play as there were 3 in the bolero vehicle and it is just a case of mishandling or overhandling of the firearms here the rifle.
SDPO Surjit Kumar said Idris Hawari owns one licensed rifle and this weapon was claimed to be there in the vehicle where all 3 occupants including Idris Hawari and Khadim Rasul were in.
The SDPO further said a rifle shot occurred and that took the life of Khadim Rasul.
Police are investigating how this incident happened which has raised questions about whether the fatal rifle shot was accidental or something else.
SDPO Surjit Kumar said Bishrampur police have rightly invoked section 304 of the IPC which deals with the death of the person allegedly by the accused and here the alleged accused is Idris Hawari.
Palamu SP Chandan Kumar Sinha said police have begun their investigation and have seized the vehicle in question where this licensed firearm was and where this incident occurred.
The SP also said he had directed his officials of the Bishrampur police station to register a written complaint of the wife or the family member of the deceased and the deceased’s wife lodged the FIR.
Idris Hawari has gone to Ranchi following his getting traumatised, according to the SP. Sources said the deceased Khadim was not the licensed retainer of the rifle of Idris Hawari.
