Daltonganj, Nov.1: Palamu police has aborted arms and ammunition supply to the banned splinter group of Naxals, TSPC, today.

Palamu SP Chandan Kumar Sinha said that police had a tip-off about the assemblage of the zonal commander Shashikant alias Arif alias Sudesh, subzonal commander Ranjan, area commanders Ujjawal and Nagina of the TSPC at Vijaygiri Pahar under the Naudiha police station.

These four were waiting for the arms and ammunition that were to be reached there by their overground men.

A police ambush was set up and a bike with two riders was intercepted. The bike was stopped at a nondescript turn, when the riders attempted to flee but failed as the police apprehended them.

The two bikers were identified as Pankaj Kr. Singh and Veer Kr. Singh of Palamu district. They had weapons that were to be given to the four TSPC extremists. Police recovered two rifles with magazines, one SBBL gun, two kattas, three rounds of fire and the bike which these two were riding.

The two arrested have been remanded in judicial custody today in Daltonganj.

The SP said that the TSPC had no inkling that their arms and ammunition consignment would be captured by the police and that the Naudiha and Saraidih police acted flawlessly during the operation.
