Palamu records increase in Covid-19 positivity rate, eight cops test positive

Daltonganj, Jan 7: The Covid-19 positivity rate (rate of infection) in Palamu district has reached 2.42% and the trend is continuously going upwards.

 

According to the district epidemiologist Dr Anup Kumar Singh, the number of active cases in the district till January 6 was 146. 66 of these 146 active cases are asymptomatic while the remaining patients have mild symptoms of Covid infection.

 

Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said that the health department is monitoring the situation with seriousness.

 

About bed availability, the CS said that there are 150 beds in MMCH, 30 beds each in 9 out of the 10 community health centres, 30 beds in the sub-divisional hospital Chhatarpur and 50 beds in another sub-divisional hospital Hussainabad.

 

Apart from that, there are two oxygen plants in Palamu.

 

The civil surgeon said that there were 10 Covid positive patients in the hospital and 5 were discharged on testing negative. More than 135 Covid positive patients are in home isolation.

 

Eight cops in Palamu are also down with Covid, said the SP Palamu. He said that instructions have been given to officers-in-charge of the police stations to work outside their chambers in open space with an embargo on no one coming to them without a mask.

 

Police lock-ups, court premise and prisoners’ van which ferry the prisoners from prison to court and back are to be sanitized soon, said the SP.

 

He said cops and police officials on their return from leave will be quarantined at Chiyanki where they will be tested for Covid and only when they test negative will be allowed to join duties.
