Daltonganj, Feb 25: Government Engineering College in Palamu is conducting a seven-day science week under the aegis of the state higher and technical education department which offers exposure to various technologies and their application in life to the students of the government schools, as informed by the principal in charge of this engineering college Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh.
Dr Singh said, “Its twin purpose is also to hunt talent in the villages where talent just goes waste for want of its recognition.”
Students are given multiple-choice questions on everyday science like whether the human body is made of oxygen or water or vitamin A is in which food.
Moreover, students do know about the x-ray but have no idea who was the scientist who invented it.
The multiple choice questions are very interesting and informative said the students who said, “This is our first brush with science in the real sense and we are happy to be the invitees of the government engineering college.”
Qualifying students are being given certificates of appreciation, said Dr Singh.
The science week has co-ordinators in Dr Pankaj Kumar, Dr H M Dubey of electric engineering, Nishikant Kisku of civil engineering Prof B K Besra of computer science.
Sources said holding the science week in this engineering college has made this college a household name courtesy of the students who have become ambassadors for the college.
