Daltonganj, May 24: Bakoriya panchayat has joined polling in the third phase of the 4-phase panchayat elections in Palamu.

Bakoriya recalls many sad and tragic memories for many people. The voters here had a surprise team of police officers led by the SDPO Surjit Kumar who was accompanied by three officers in charge of three police stations.

Bakoriya shot to infamy in 2015 when an encounter took place here. The CBI is investigating for it being either a frank or a fake encounter in which 12 lives were lost including three minors.

SDPO Surjit Kumar told lagatar24.com today that the people of Bakoriya are very conscious of their democratic rights. They are plain and just do not bother at all how the world looks at them.

“We have made adequate security arrangements here and the polling is smooth,” the SDPO said.
