Palamu to vaccinate over 1.41 lakh teens in 15-18 age group

Daltonganj, Dec. 29: The Jharkhand government has set a target of more than 1.41 lakh beneficiaries in the age group of 15 to 18 in Palamu for the first dose vaccination of Bharat Biotech’s Covid vaccine- Covaxin.

Palamu civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said, “We are gearing up to undertake this vaccination in all seriousness which is to begin from January 3, 2022. A booster dose is also to start from January 10.”

“We are going to approach private nursing college managements to give us second-year students of their institutions to help us in the vaccination job of the youngsters in the age group of 15 to 18,” he added.

Palamu has 2 active cases of covid as of now, informed the CS adding that the two have tested positive in the rapid antigen test. He said their further confirmatory test will be done through RT-PCR.

At the year-end press briefing today, the CS said the blood collection in Palamu has been adequate but it needs a round the year backup.

11,634 units of blood were collected out of which 96 units of blood collected were discarded for reasons of carrying stains of communicable diseases.

The personnel of the outsource agency here too would be now given a month’s remuneration at par with their April month remuneration, according to Dr. Anil.

“Our own personnel and doctors have already benefited from this one-month pack as announced by the state government. Health minister Banna Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Arun Kr Singh and the mission director always keep a close tab on the development of health facilities in Palamu,” he said.

Talking about institutional delivery and routine immunisation, the civil surgeon said it is 63 and 73 percent respectively. The first-trimester test of the pregnant woman is 82 percent.

49 people benefited under the Mukhya Mantri Asadhya Rog Upchar scheme.

The civil surgeon also remembered those who served in the department and now stand retired. He mentioned a grade A nurse Shanti Devi who retired in the year 2008 but for 13 years she remained without any retiral benefits. Her pension papers are now being processed, he informed.

District epidemiologist Dr Anup Kr Singh and others accompanied the civil surgeon in this press briefing.
