Mumbai, March 24: Filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar passed away at the age of 68 on Friday. The popular filmmaker is known for directing hit films like, ‘Parineeta’, ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’, ‘Mardaani’ and Helicopter Eela.
As per information, the filmmaker was on dialysis and his potassium levels had dropped drastically. However, the cause of his death is still awaited.
Taking to Twitter, Actress Neetu Chandra, and Pradeep’s sister Madhuri informed about the demise of Pradeep Sarkar on Friday.

Meanwhile, other Bollywood celebrities expressed their condolences at the passing of the filmmaker.
Director Hansal Mehta confirmed Pradeep’s death. Sharing a picture of the director, Hansal wrote, “Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP.”

Moreover, the mortal remains of the director will be cremated at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium around 4 pm on Friday.
Notably, Pradeep Sarkar began his career with Vinod Chopra Productions, the production company of director and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. After working 17 years in mainstream advertising as Creative Director – Art, he began his directorial journey as an ad-film maker. Apart from commercials, Pradeep was also one of the most sought-after and prolific music video directors around.
His foray into feature films produced the critically acclaimed Parineeta, winning him the acclaimed National Film Award in the Best Debut Film of a Director category.
