Jamshedpur, Oct 27: The new second entry to Tatanagar railway station from the Burmamines-end will soon get a spacious parking area apart from a ramp and other passenger amenities.
The engineering wing of Tatanagar station has decided to resume work on a ramp and a staircase to connect the second entry with the second foot overbridge at the Chakradharpur-end.
The work got affected due to the Covid-induced lockdown. In the absence of a ramp and stairs, passengers were unable to get the full benefit of the second entry as they are unable to enter platforms.
The abandoned overbridge has been dismantled to pave the way for the new ramp and staircase coming up at the A-1 category station.
Station director H.K. Balmuchu said they were expecting the work to be over in another two months or so.
He said once the second footbridge is operational, passengers can directly move to various platforms after entering the station from the Burmamines end. According to Balmuchu, the second entry to the station would also see beautification work such as landscaping and fountains.
Chairs would also be provided for the convenience of passengers.
Significantly, the second entrance to the station was planned as it would be beneficial for passengers coming from Sakchi, Golmuri, Baridih, Agrico and Telco and other areas in the eastern fringe of Jamshedpur. It will also help clear the passenger rush at the main entrance.
