New Delhi, June 19: After reports of a fire inside the jet, a SpiceJet plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Patna’s Bihta Airforce Station. According to reports, all 185 passengers are safe. According to airport reports, the flight was a Boeing 727.
“Flames were seen on the left wing of the aircraft. It landed immediately. Two blades were bent. People of Phulwari Sharif saw the flames and alerted the airport authorities,” said the Patna District Magistrate, Chandrashekhar Singh.
“The reason for the fire was a suspected technical glitch and that the engineering team was conducting further investigations,” he added.

According to accounts, the plane was having difficulty reaching normal flying height. It stayed in the air for about 25 minutes before landing safely at Patna’s Bihta Airforce Station.
Police and airport workers came alongside the jet shortly after it landed, ensuring that all passengers were safely evacuated.
SpiceJet is yet to provide an official statement.
