Ranchi, April 27: Ranchi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday terminated the door-to-door garbage collection company CDC in the city. However, the cloud of crisis is hovering over the 700 CDC employees.

The salary of these 700 employees is due from the last 3 months, which neither the company nor the RMC is ready to pay. The corporation had tendered the CDC for 25 years in 2020, in which 33 conditions were laid. Due to non-fulfilment of conditions and after receiving frequent complaints, the corporation has terminated the company.

CDC has a total of 700 employees, out of which 650 are sweepers, 40 are supervisors and 5 are zonal heads. All these employees have arrears of salary for the last 3 months, due to which they have also gone on strike many times, but till now no result has come out.

The zonal officer of CDC said that after the termination of the corporation, now we are not able to understand how our arrears of salary will be paid. CDC has also not deposited PF and ESI of our employees for the last 16 months. He further said that all the officers of the CDC have been absconding.

The Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Rajneesh Kumar, said that CDC has been terminated for irregularities in the cleanliness system in the city. The corporation will now take the responsibility for cleaning the city. The corporation will talk to the law branch regarding the outstanding salary of CDC employees, after which a decision will be taken.
