PCI slashes seats in six pharmacy colleges of Jharkhand

The body has also cancelled affiliation of other six pharmacy colleges for session 2022-23

Ranchi, Feb 2: Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has taken action against a total of 12 pharmacy institutes of Jharkhand for not following rules of the council.

Out of these, there are six pharmacy institutes which will no longer be able to conduct the courses for the session 2022-23. Their affiliation has also been cancelled for the current session. Meanwhile, seats have been reduced for various courses in the rest of the six pharmacy institutes.

Complaints were constantly being received against these institutions for not following the terms and conditions of the Pharmacy Council of India.

Along with this, action has also been against those pharmacy institutes that were wrongfully operating in the state. In view of the complaints, the 357th Executive Committee of the Council has taken a final decision and issued a notice against the institutions.

D Pharma and B Pharma courses were being taught in the said 12 pharmacy institutes identified in the state.

The institutions that have been banned for the session 2022-23 include Tila Institute of Pharmaceutical Science Ramgarh that had a course of D Pharma, VIBN University Rajaulatu Ranchi that conducted both D Pharma and B Pharma courses, Heritage Pharmacy College Garhwa with D Pharma course, RP College Of Pharmacy Garhwa which taught D Pharma course, Tupudana Institute of Medical Sciences Ranchi that had a course of D Pharma and Bansidhar College Of Pharmacy Palamu that had a D Pharma course.

Pitambara College Pharmacy, Krishna Nagar, Booty, Ranchi that has a D Pharma course has had 20 seats decreased, whereas 40 seats have been decreased in the Usha Martin University Ranchi that taught B Pharma.

20 seats have been decreased in Triveni College of Pharmacy Ranchi that runs a D Pharma course while, 20 seats each have been decreased in D Parma and B Pharma at Palamu Institute of Pharmacy.

Another 20 seats have been reduced from the D Pharma course in the BLM School of Pharmacy Deoghar and a total of 40 seats have been removed from the School Of Pharmacy Sai Nath University Ranchi that has a course for B Pharma.
