Kathmandu, Sept 30: A protest demonstration was held in Humla against Chinese occupation of Nepal’s land and Chinese interference in the country’s internal affairs. The protesters raised slogans of ‘China return our land’ and ‘Go back China’.

According to the report, China has secretly constructed 12-15 buildings in Humla, Nepal. China is stopping the local people from going there. The local people are demanding removal of the occupation and an inquiry into the matter. Former government of Nepal led by KP Sharma Oli rejected the Chinese occupation by saying  that there is no border dispute between Kathmandu and Beijing.

Recently, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Thapa has constituted a 5 members committee to investigate the matter. The committee will investigate the Nepal-China border dispute from Limi Lapcha to Hilsa in Namkha rural municipality in Humla district.

The controversy started last year when Vishnu Bahadur Lama, president of the local village council, visited the area. He saw the buildings made by the Chinese army. These buildings are built in the territory of Nepal, 2 kilometers from the border. Humla’s Chief District Officer (CDO) Dalbahadur Hamal also got the matter investigated. The investigation proved the Chinese occupation to be true.

A member of 19 comprising local politicians, civil society members and journalists, led by the former prime minister conducted an 11 day inspection. The team observed that China has built infrastructure inside Nepal’s territory.
