Daltonganj, Dec 6: A dog named Molly saved its owner’s family from a deadly Cobra. It barked and alerted its master, Chandrakant Pathak about the snake which could be life-threatening. This incident is of Ghaghra in the Gumla district.
Chandrakant Pathak, principal of the Solitaire school Ghaghra while speaking to lagatar24.com said, “Our dog Molly guards our school at night. It saved us from many of the tensions and worries especially when there is a deadly snake around.”
“This Sunday evening we heard Molly’s incessant barking. We knew something must be wrong on the ground floor as we live on the first floor of the school. There was this 4 feet long cobra in its fiercest form with the hood up and swinging in the air,” he added.
He said he watched videos of the snake rescue operations and thus knew what to do. His wife gave him a white sack and quite deftly he got the cobra in it. The sack was later tied with a rope.
Asked if he at any point in time felt nervous before the cobra, Pathak said he was cautious and alert and added he has saved and rescued a couple of snakes also in the past.
“Our forest guards rushed to this family on their call and took down this Cobra, N Naja in the sack to the protected forest of Nawadiha and released the snake in the jungles,” said Srikant Verma, DFO, Gumla.
Forest guard R Shekhar Singh played a good role in the release of the rescued deadly poisonous snake.
