Photo-journalist Baijnath Mahto dies during treatment

Ranchi, Oct 4: Photo-journalist Baijnath Mahto died today while undergoing treatment at RIMS. He was injured in a deadly attack on September 11. The attack was carried out in the Tiril Basti of Sadar police station area.

The PCR vehicle had admitted Baijnath in a critical condition at 3 am on September 12 to RIMS, where he was undergoing treatment.

The accused Akash, who attacked the journalist, was arrested by Ranchi Police from Tikari in Gaya on September 19. During the investigation, it was revealed that Baijnath was hit on the head with a hammer by the accused.

The accused absconded after carrying out the incident. Ranchi police had formed eight teams to nab the accused and a reward of Rs 25 thousand was also announced for the informer.
