Ranchi/New Delhi: The Supreme Court today directed to maintain status quo in the matter involving mining lease and shell companies related to Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren.
The development took place after the matter was taken up in the court and it came to the knowledge of judges that one of the concerned lawyers is currently in police custody.
The direction was given verbally and the next date for the hearing was fixed on August 12.
The matter reached before the apex court through a SLP after the high court in Jharkhand admitted PILs related to mining lease and shell companies of Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren. The PIL urged the court to order a CBI probe into the matter as the matter is of great public importance and the chief minister himself is involved in corrupt practices.
The SLP challenges the maintainability of PIL.
