Mumbai, May 3: The film ‘Runway 34,’ starring Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, has caused a stir among the country’s ‘pilot community,’ with the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) claiming that the film is based on an incorrect portrayal.
Captain CS Randhawa, the FIP Secretary, made a statement on Tuesday criticising the film ‘Runway 34.’
“The profession of airline pilots has been unrealistically portrayed in the movie and may create apprehensions in the minds of fliers,” said Captain Randhawa.
“While we all enjoy being entertained and appreciate the artistic licence of a movie director, a thrilling tale should not be perceived as a true depiction of the extraordinary professionalism among airline pilots who fly thousands of flights every day responsibly and safely without incident and fanfare,” FIP said in a statement.
Notably, the film ‘Runway 34,’ starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and Amitabh Bachchan, is receiving positive reviews. According to the trailer, the film is based on a true story. The federation, on the other hand, stated that it is unaware of the truth shown in the video.
The film ‘Runway 34’ is based on an aircraft from Doha to Kochi that crashed in August 2015 due to poor visibility, killing several people.
