New Delhi, Jan 8: Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, will travel on official business to New York and Washington, DC, from January 9 to 11, where he will attend the India-US Trade Policy Forum.
During the first leg of the trip, the minister will meet with the CEOs of reputable multinational corporations, take part in local activities, attend roundtable discussions with business executives and representatives from think tanks, and tour various industries in New York.
On January 11, 2023, he will attend the 13th Trade Policy Forum (TPF) conference in Washington, DC. He will also have one-on-one sessions with USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai prior to delegation-level discussions.
After a four-year hiatus, the 12th TPF Ministerial meeting was convened on November 23, 2021, in New Delhi. Following the most recent ministerial, working groups were reactivated. The Trade Partnership Forum (TPF) is a framework for ongoing dialogue between two nations to advance their trade and investment ties. Both nations are eager for the conference and optimistic that it will result in trade difficulties being resolved. The Commerce and Industry Minister of India and USTR of the United States both serve as the TPF’s chairs.
He will also meet in person with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo in Washington, DC. A few captains of the industry will also be talked to.
Notably, both India and USA are natural partners and have trade complementarities, long-standing strategic and economic relationships, people to people contact, and both are vibrant democracies too.
